Dr. Janos Szabo - Aktivdoki

Hi, I’m Dr. Janos Szabo – a dedicated psychologist and ADHD-coach,
a passionate hobby-athlete, and a sports therapist in education.
My two greatest passions are working with people with ADHD and Sport/Motion.
With my work, I don’t only deliver knowledge and professional value — I share a feeling of life:
freedom, authenticity, honest self-expression, and anti-perfectionism.
That’s why I voluntarily appointed myself the ambassador of small steps.
In sports, only two things truly matter: effort and respect.
Everything else (gold medals, records, championships, peak physique, flawless technique, etc.) is secondary.
My story
Once, I wanted to be “perfect”: intelligent, impressive, a strong athlete, an excellent academic, building an international career, appearing strong inside and out. I chased achievements — in sports, research, academia, languages, new skills.
Still, I rarely felt satisfied. I constantly compared myself to others. I was disappointed if I didn’t win medal, or if a paper I submitted was rejected.
Then came a breakdown: crisis at work, smoking, alcohol, junk food, became overweighted.
I was at about 10% of the form I once had. Half-marathons became 3-4 km jogs that felt exhausting. Muscle-up, front-lever, back-lever and other street workout tricks turned into struggling to do 4-5 pull-ups. Swimming 800 meters felt hard, althoug I once swam through the Lake Balaton.
It was sport, movement and small efforts that gave me hope again — and enrolling in a sporttherapist-education.
I started appreciating every small victory:
🏃♂️ I’m proud when I go for a run instead of scrolling social media.
🥦 I’m proud when I manage to stay in a calorie deficit for just one day.
🍕 I’m proud when I put the chips back on the shelf at the supermarket.
💪 I’m proud when I do just one set at the street workout park.
🛌 I’m proud when I go to bed on time.
❤️ I’m proud when I help even just one person with real advice.
🥂 I’m proud when I say “no” to a third vodka at a party.
It wasn’t these actions that got me into my best shape ever — it was my attitude.
That’s why I became the ambassador of small steps — because I believe every small action matters.
If you feel overwhelmed by expectations, know this: you are not alone.
We move forward — together, honestly, freely, one small step at a time.
